Lovely countryside. Sudbury is a little gem although if pressed for time can be by-passed.
Melford has a large and imposing parish church and two very large country houses all in quick succession.
Be careful with the public footpath navigation towards the end of this day's walk just north of Standsted Great Wood. It is easy to miss the right turn from the road (Blooms Hall lane) onto the footpath that runs east south east across the northern boundary of Woodhouse Wood. It lies on the boundary between two maps. Take it slowly and avoid having to back track.
