Stages > Lawshall to Bury St Edmunds > Bury St Edmunds to Ixworth > Ixworth to Thirty Acre Covert > Thirty Acre Covert via Peddar Way to Thorpe Farm Campsite
Comments Please note that the campsite is basically a series of pitches in small wooded clearings or in a couple of fields. It has no toilet or shower facilities. It is for self contained caravans. If you need a proper campsite consider camping near a pub in Coney Weston 4 miles south of Thorpe Farm Campsite Bury St Edmunds boasts various food and chemist shops. It also has camping shops: Blacks, Cotswold Camping and Mountain Warehouse. Shadwell is actually a corruption of "St Chad's well". St Chad evangelised this area in the seventh century. The well used for baptism lies in the grounds of a farm house 3km the south west of the campsite and just to the north of the A1066 road. The bones of St Chad now reside within Birmingham's St Chad's Roman Catholic cathedral.
